Reality F1 - Fantasy F1 competition

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021 and final results

After the season we've had the final race was always likely to end in controversy. Lewis jumped Max at the start, Max then passed but Lewis held onto first by going off the track. The stewards said no investigation was necessary as Lewis had given back any advantage gained. From this point onwards Lewis edged further and further ahead of Max until the last few laps of the race. A crash by Latifi brought out the safety car and Max pitted for soft tyres but Hamilton stayed out. Behind the safety car Hamilton's on-track gap to Verstappen was negated. On the penultimate lap of the race the lapped cars between Verstappen and Hamilton were allowed to unlap themselves, but not those lapped cars behind them. The safety car period ended at the end of that same lap leaving one lap of racing. Verstappen on fresh, soft tyres easily passed Hamilton on old, hard tyres and took the victory. After the race Mercedes lodged two appeals of the result as Max edged slightly past Lewis behind the safety car and not all the lapped cars had been allowed through and the safety car pitted that same lap. Ultimately both appeals were rejected and the race result stands; Max is world champion. It's not clear if there will be additional challenges in the coming days but, irrespective of who you wanted to win, today left a lot of unanswered questions.

In RealityF1, the 2021 RealityF1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was won by BigAl. The team to have for this race was Verstappen, Sainz Jnr, AlphaTauri and AlphaTauri.

The 2021 RealityF1 Championship was won by Tom Sykes, congratulations Tom Sykes you become the 21st RealityF1 Champion! Gary moved up to second place in the final race with BigAl in third. SmithyB_03 was the top ranked rookie player (someone playing RealityF1 for the first time) in 4th.

In the league competition, Brimberry took the top spot, their second league championship.

In the country league competition it was Finland who took victory from the United States and the United Kingdom. Finland have not been outside of the top three since 2011.

As the season has now ended I have updated the player rankings (a leaderboard of all the players who've contested a RealityF1 season since the game started in 2001). The top ranking player is now Gary, ahead of janne, Keith and Mark.

As usual, I'm keen to hear any feedback you may have on the game so I can continue to improve it so please email me your views and suggestions for the future.

The site will re-open on Monday and, although you won't be able to create a team for the new season yet, you will still be able to update your profile and account details if you wish (should you change email addresses etc).

RealityF1 will return for the 2022 season. The provisional date for the first race is the 20th March 2022. A month or so before the first race I'll email you to let you know that you can create your team for the coming season.

It only remains for me to thank you for playing RealityF1, I look forward to losing to you again in 2022.
