Reality F1 - Fantasy F1 competition

Welcome to Reality F1 2016

Reality F1, the free Fantasy Formula 1 competition, returns for the 2016 season!

This season will be interesting as the Haas team has joined the grid and Renault return as a 'works' team (having bought Lotus). There are also plans for qualifying to take on a new knockout system but this won't be until at least the fifth race of the season (if at all).

Setting the prices has been difficult this year as the teams have done so little testing prior to the start of the season. It's fairly safe to assume that Mercedes and Ferrari both look good and the new Haas team has impressed so far. I've kept the budget for teams at £70M but, as there are eleven teams now, there are more than 10,000 possible team combinations.

In terms of the Reality F1 competition there are a few changes to the site, the main ones are that the site should now work well on mobile phones/tablets so you should be able to update your teams on the move more easily. I've also added SSL to the site (so the address is now https://realityf1.com) and long standing players will notice that there are breakdowns and graphs going back as far as 2007 (previosuly it was limited to 2011 and onwards).

The feedback following the competition last year was very interesting and raised a number of questions. For example, some players really like the medal system and others of you don't. I've previously outlined why Reality F1 has medals but during this year I will be collating more comments and coming up with plans for the game in 2017. I've also been working on another motorsport related project and willbe looking for playtesters later in the year so will be ask for volunteers closer to the time.

As with last season, I've kept the number of free team changes to three for this year and I will also be running the rookie competition again. Mini-leagues must have a minimum of four members in order to be entered into the competition. However, people can join the league at any point during the season.

The deadline for team entries (or changes to team components for the coming race) is 12 midnight GMT on the FRIDAY before a race. In order to be eligible to score points in all 21 rounds of the 2016 season you will need to register a team before 12 midnight GMT on Friday 18th March 2016. You can join after this date but won't score points for missed races.

If you played last season then you just need to log in and you can create your new team. If you've not played before then you'll need to sign up.

Game on!
