Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2021 results
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is often a dramatic race and it didn't disappoint in 2021. Leclerc managed to secure pole after a very disrupted qualifying with four stoppages. He dropped back during the race as Hamilton took the lead. In the pit stops Hamilton had to wait for Gasly to pass him in the pit lane and he lost the lead to both Verstappen and Pérez. The two Red Bull drivers then looked to have the race under control until two laps to go when Verstappen had a tyre failure and crashed out (a similar incident happening to Stroll earlier in the race). This brought out a red flag and the race was then resumed from a standing start with two laps to go. At the restart Hamilton passed Pérez but had accidentally knocked a switch that moved the brake bias forwards and so he then went wide at the first corner and dropped to last. Pérez re-took the lead and won the race ahead of Vettel and Gasly. As all the cars went through the pit lane behind the safety car and when the race was red flagged the official number of stops was three.
In RealityF1 it was Biosp that won the Reality F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The team to have was Pérez, Giovinazzi, McLaren and AlphaTauri.
In the 2021 RealityF1 Championship I hold on to the lead from Tom Sykes in second.
In the league competition, NESTF1 remain top. Finland are in first place in the country league competition.
The site will re-open for team changes tomorrow (Monday). The seventh race of the season, the French Grand Prix, takes place on 20th June.
