Reality F1 - Fantasy F1 competition

Brazilian Grand Prix 2012 and final results

What a race!

The 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix was an absolute classic with drama throughout. The race would have been exciting at any point in any season but coming as it did as the championship deciding final race of the 2012 season it was doubly special.

The race was won by Jenson Button following a collision between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hülkenberg whilst fighting for the lead. Alonso finished second but it was not enough to take the driver's championship. For the third season in a row it was Vettel who emerged victorious despite spinning on the opening lap and then fighting his way back through the field to finish sixth.

In Reality F1, the Brazilian Grand Prix was a tie between Boycey, F1_4Life and Stain. Their teams contained Button, Pic, McLaren and HRT. This was a great combination considering Button's win and Pic's drive from 22nd to twelfth.

The final race of the season also created a dramatic end to the Reality F1 Championship. Heading in to the final race of the season it was velemajstor who had led for sixteen of the nineteen races. However, Pérez's early exit from the Brazilian Grand Prix and a DNF for both Williams drivers proved costly. The result was that velemajstor slipped from first to fourth and spectre51 jumped four places to take the championship in the very last race of the season. An awesome result and congratulations spectre51, you become the twelfth Reality F1 Champion!

In the league competition, SquashF1 held on to the lead and took the title at the first time of asking - a fantastic result in their rookie season.

Australia won the country league competition with Finland getting the better of Portugal in the final race of the season.

As the season has now ended I have updated the player rankings (a leaderboard of all the players who've contested a Reality F1 season since the game started in 2001). The top ranking player in Reality F1 is now Mark. Excellent work!

I'm currently planning a few game changes and updates for the 2013 season. To help me focus my efforts (I run Reality F1 in my spare time) I'd really appreciate it if you could share your opinions on Reality F1 (good and bad) by completing this online survey.

During the 'closed season' we will continue blogging and tweeting F1 news. The site will re-open on Monday and, although you won't be able to create a team for the new season yet, you will still be able to update your profile and account details if you wish (should you change email addresses etc).

Reality F1 will return for the 2013 season. The provisional date for the first race is the 17th March 2013. Approximately a month or so before the first race I'll email you to let you know that you can create your team for the coming season.

It only remains for me to thank you for playing Reality F1, I look forward to being thrashed by you again in 2013.
