Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2024 and final results
With the Drivers' Championship already settled, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix would decide the Constructors' Championship with McLaren hoping to secure the title for the first time since 1998. Qualifying went well for the papaya team with a one-two but a first corner incident with Verstappen (for which the latter received a 10s penalty) spun Piastri and dropped him to last. With Leclerc surging through the field he was soon third behind Sainz and meaning Norris had to win the race to clinch the Constructors' title for McLaren. Norris soaked up the pressure and was able to win the race and secure the title for the team.
This season has been a bit mixed with the lack of competition at the beginning of the season allowing Verstappen to build a lead that he could defend. His consistent performances later in the season, as the other teams overhauled the dominance of Red Bull, secured the title. With several teams ending the season in competitive shape, and some exciting driver moves for 2025, let's hope for a more competitive season from the outset next year.
In RealityF1, the 2024 RealityF1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was won by Aquitaine, Crash'n'Burn, rosbif and The Tick. The team to have for this race was Norris, Leclerc, Haas and RB.
The 2024 RealityF1 Championship was a very close fight with Asko beating BigAl by just 3.5 points. Congratulations to Asko you become the 24th RealityF1 Champion! Tom R was the top ranked rookie player (someone playing RealityF1 for the first time) in 28th.
In the league competition, NESTF1 took the top spot. This is NESTF1's fifth league victory and their first since 2020.
In the country league competition it was the United States who took victory from last year's winners Finland.
As the season has now ended I have updated the player rankings (a leaderboard of all the players who've contested a RealityF1 season since the game started in 2001). The top ranking player is still Keith, ahead of mic1000 and chub.
As usual, I'm keen to hear any feedback you may have on the game so I can continue to improve it so please email me your views and suggestions for the future.
The site will re-open on Monday and, although you won't be able to create a team for the new season yet, you will still be able to update your profile and account details if you wish (should you change email addresses etc).
RealityF1 will return for the 2025 season. The provisional date for the first race is the Australian Grand Prix on 16th March 2025. A month or so before the first race I'll email you to let you know that you can create your team for the coming season.
It only remains for me to thank you for playing RealityF1, I look forward to losing to you again in 2025.
