Spanish Grand Prix 2022 results
Once again it was Leclerc who set the pace having qualified on pole and then getting a clean getaway. He had the race under control when Verstappen slid off from second into the gravel but was able to rejoin in fourth. Verstappen and Perez were both then stuck behind a much improved Mercedes of Russell whilst Leclerc built a lead. Leclerc looked to have the race in the bag until his car lost power and he retired. Red Bull were able to jump Russell with a different strategy and then Verstappen took the lead from Perez. Behind them Hamilton recovered, having dropped to 19th following a puncture on the opening lap, to fight his way through the field to fourth. Unfortunately a late technical concern for both Mercedes saw Hamilton drop behind Sainz to fifth on the final lap.
