Reality F1 - Fantasy F1 competition

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2014 and final results

After a thrilling season it was Lewis Hamilton who won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and also became World Champion for the second time. Hamilton started second behind Nico Rosberg, his team mate and title rival, but got the better start and led into the first corner. Rosberg was then to suffer problems with the car that meant he dropped back and eventually finished 14th. Hamilton went on to pick up his eleventh race victory of the season and collectively I think most of the F1 community gave a sigh of relief that the double points being awarded hadn't affected the outcome of the championship.

Behind Hamilton it was Massa and Bottas, the result securing Williams' third place in the constructors' championship. Despite the dominance that the Mercedes car had this season the team allowed their drivers to race and we had one of the most exciting seasons for some time.. congratulations and many thanks to Mercedes AMG, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

In Reality F1, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was won by Rorschach with andythorpe second. The team to have for this race was Ricciardo (who started from the pit lane and finished fourth), Hülkenberg, Williams, Williams.

The Reality F1 Championship was won by SubmarinerF1 who has led the championship for the last four races. SubmarinerF1 is also in their first season so takes the honours as top rookie too. tomtrentham finished second and Heads.i.Win was third. So, congratulations SubmarinerF1, you become the fourteenth Reality F1 Champion!

In the league competition, Fighting for second got it all wrong and took the win in the last race of the season. This pushed NESTF1 into second and The Robbins Family (the most successful league in Reality F1 history) finished third.

In the country league competition it was Finland who took victory ahead of the United States and Portugal. Finland has been second in the country league for the last two years but took the honours in 2014.

As the season has now ended I have updated the player rankings (a leaderboard of all the players who've contested a Reality F1 season since the game started in 2001). The top ranking player in Reality F1 is Mark who holds on to the title and has now been top player for three years in a row! Excellent work!

As usual, I'm keen to hear any feedback you may have on the game so I can continue to improve it. I've put together a survey to collect your views and suggestions and if you could complete this short online survey I'd really appreciate it.

During the 'closed season' I'll continue blogging and tweeting F1 news. The site will re-open on Monday and, although you won't be able to create a team for the new season yet, you will still be able to update your profile and account details if you wish (should you change email addresses etc).

Reality F1 will return for the 2015 season. The provisional date for the first race is the 15th March 2015. Approximately a month or so before the first race I'll email you to let you know that you can create your team for the coming season.

It only remains for me to thank you for playing Reality F1, I look forward to playing against you again in 2015.
